An Introduction to Fiduciary Duty
WHAT IS THIS SESSION ABOUT:
An exploration of fiduciary duty as it relates to interpreters. A fiduciary duty is the highest standard of care at equity or law. This session will look how this duty manifests, fidelity in the act of interpreting and what this means for interpreters and the consequences of breaching this duty.
Jason is a freelance BSL/English Interpreter and Director of iNet Interpreting Ltd, the UK's first interpreting co-operative formed in 2011. A fully qualified BSL/English interpreter with over 15 years experience he qualified through the postgraduate route gaining the PGdip in BSL/English interpreting via SLI/UCLAN in 2009.
Jason initially trained and qualified as a Social Worker gaining the DipSW in 1996. He has an MA in Ethics from Keele University and has lectured on ethics and professionalism on the postgraduate diploma at SLI/UCLAN and the MA in BSL/English interpreting at University of Leeds. He is currently module leader for professional issues and specialist settings on the SLI Advanced Diploma in BSL/English interpreting.
